Lead 12, Reverb 12 and Bass 12.
Does anyone else like here like em?
Here a link: www.erikhansen.net/?page_id=12
another link: wwww.youtube.com/watch?V=ZFpjOvLwlwU&feature=related =mainly distortion on this one!!
First part is clean sound, just have a listen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_HjwRBsEW4&feature=related
More clean sounds here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCmTqp3P-Ow
On this link you can hear the sound breaking up slightly in a bright raspy way because of the humbucks of the Les Paul, still sounding nice though! Try it with a Strat and you get much cleaner results. Use an EQ and Exhiter and your clean sound gets even better!! Not sure where his reverb comes from, it could be the Reverb 12 or reverb added on his recorder.
I have four of them, and they act like my little Marshall stack.
Use the OD-1 on clean settings and you get a much better distortion sound then what you hear on the youtube link.
The 10 inch speaker on both these amps do sound very trebly, and again, by using pedals you can get them to sound much better.
The sound you get is the basic Marshall sound what Marshall is famous for. Very cool for such small amps. With the DI-output you can hook them up to a PA and voila, there you are playing Marshall's in a band situation where you do not need to lug heavy cabs and ampheads.
okay nothing beats a 100watt head and speakercab. but still I dig their sound and in the right context they do sound excellent.

I have been in the Lead 12 camp since '85. I love these things. Through my Tremolux 2-10 cab it was a thing of beauty. Will push a 4-12 quite nicely and you can sit right next to it. Drive a JBL or EV 12 and prepare to be amazed. For a tranny amp they are it as far as I am concerned. |

Yeah, been trying to find someone to make speakeroutputs on mine too.
Most of the techs I knew have move away, but I think I will leave it for now as the amps do have celestionspeakers and they are a huge part of the sound I like from these amps. Not really looking to get a Fender sound from them by using Jensens or anything else.
I bought one from a repairguitarshop, and they used the amp on their workbench. The guys working there felt the amp was a piece of shit, and were surprised that I showed an interest in buying it. Just again an example of different people using different settings and expecting different sounds. |
