Here in Calgary my local Radio Shack (now known as "The Source by Circuit City") had Boss look-alike knobs on clearance... 4-pack of knobs for $0.97 - part number 2740415. I cleaned them out.
Dunno what it's like elsewhere in Canada or in the USA but if you Radio Shack has them, go get some! |

I did the same about a year ago when I stopped in for an adapter.. cleaned 'em out of about all they had.
Too bad Radio Shack is nothing but cell phones & remote control cars these days. They used to have almost every component in their catalog in drawers. |

thats where i get mine from , but they don't just push on , they have a tiny little screw on the side you need to tighten , but other than that ,they are the same. |

The "screw in the side" is technically called "set screw", and the kind with a fluted shaft is called "split shaft".
Set screw knobs were used on early MIJ pedals, then they changed to split shaft... Bossarea might be able to pinpoint the time that happened.
Anyway, the set screw type will mount on the split shaft pots, but not the other way around. If you really want split shaft knobs, the only place I've been able to find that has them is as original spares from Roland.
