| I was browsing the Effector 13 site and stumbled upon this http://www.effector13.com/diy/index.html I'm not sure if you need anything else the instructions are a little vague, but it seems you only need a wire or two? I don't have a DS-1 to try it on but I know a lot of you guys do. |

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that myself. Of course, I'd have to have a DS-1 first.
It's pretty much like circuit bending. What you might like to know is that if you just use one wire like that, the pedal will make that sound all the time. My suggestion would to be wire both points to a switch so you can engage and disengage the effect. |

| Yeah that would be a worthwhile addition although you would have to drill the box if you wanted easy access. Mind you DS-1's are pretty cheap on ebake these days. |

| Tried it. Didn't give me more than a bit of boost I guess. No tremolo. However my DS-1 looks slightly different inside - MIT. |

Hi Bossarea & guys First of all, please be careful doing this mod.
It does not state, which chip version of the DS-1, they did this mod on.
As we have discussed in other threads on this forum, there are 4 different chips used in the DS-1,
From what I could roughly tell from the pic on their site, it looks to have been done on a 8 PIN version of the DS-1 8 Pin chips are: BA728N -- MM5223L -- NJM2904L
I haven't taken my vintage DS-1 apart yet to check & compare this mod. Mine has the 7 PIN TA7136P in it.
I will take a good look at it later during daylight hours.
I did read that -- Erik dP -- did it to his one, and stated that: quote Tried it. Didn't give me more than a bit of boost I guess. No tremolo. However my DS-1 looks slightly different inside - MIT.
Regards Dr. Bob

| It could be the makings of a decent mod though? If someone could wire up a toggle footswitch, to have normal DS-1 and boosted DS-1. |

Hi Bossarea & guys
Ok my Tech curiosity got the better of me, I just pulled my DS-1 apart.
The mod is definitely for: One of the 8 Pin versions of the DS-1
I can't tell you which one.
If anyone has the schematic for one of the 8 Pin dual opamp type DS-1's, would you please send it to me, & I will try to figure out what the link on this mod actually does.
Regards Dr. Bob |

| I just did the mod on a newer ds-1. It worked, but sounds terrible. it sends itself into an infinite distortion/tremolo loop. Pretty useless. |

Sounds like oscillation????
I know Brian Wampler at Indyguitarist has a handful of crazy DS-1 mods in his book. Weird tremolo and synth stuff. |

yep, mine are a bit different than e13's, but the crazy ds-1 stuff IS just circuit bends.
Hope that helps! :)
