| i was on ebay and i noticed an auction for an HC-2 handclapper. does anyone own one of these? whats the deal with these? i know its used as a metronome or a percussive tool, but can you get an "applause" sound instead of just single claps? why would Boss make a product that simulates handclaps. im sorry, i just find this funny. |

I've got one of these. It can't be used as a metronome because it has a pad that needs to be hit to generate the sound. Well, it can if a trigger sound is connected to the EXT Input socket but you would have to use a drum machine or a metronome for that trigger sound. That also means you can't get an applause, just single claps.
Handclaps were really popular for a really short period in the early/mid 80s. Lots of recordings (John Fogerty and The J.Geils Band springs to mind) had handclaps on them but I think in most cases they used 20 guys clapping instead of a hand clapper. Boss was quick to capitalise on the sudden popularity of hand clapping. Today it's somewhat silly and I guess that's why I bought one

I found a HC-2 in a pawnshop. 35. With box. I didn't even thought, I bought it.
I'm glad to see it's worth big money on the bay !
I'll let you know my feeling about it when I test it, of course. |

Well, it certainly is not worth 100$...
It can be triggered by a bass or a guitar, but you need some Y's to direct the sound. At least one, to separate the triggering sound from the sound that goes to amp. And then you can drive the output of the HC-2 wherever you want.
The noise produced is convincing.
But it's only a handclap.... |

Very accurate description
I got one but it doesn't feel quite right beacause I need the PC-2 as well. Apparently it's just as useless |
