Hi Guys
I found this in a Stewart Macdonald catalog, & on their web pages.
Black Ice
Miniature passive guitar overdrive circuit with a "tweed amp" crunch!

It is sold as a PASSIVE overdrive module that you fit, internally to A-Your guitar.
It seems to replace the Tone cap, & requires High Impedance (10K or more) - And High output pickups.

The item intrigues me,
maybe someone else here, has seen this device & knows some more about it, or what it might contain.
I have a few suspicions & an educated guess.

It is also known as the "Christian Black Ice".

Anyone other Member or Tech, want to discuss this unit?
Or maybe do some research on it.

Maybe someone has fitted, or used a guitar with one installed?

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi Guys

A bit of searching around the web uncovered this:
And my guess was correct, that the Black Ice, was just some Schottky Diodes, back to back, as you would find in the symmetrical Clipping section of an Overdrive-Distortion.

The Schematic - Circuit.

And don't forget to take a good look around, the rest of the site.

There is a nice Tutorials section as well.

And an Electronics section.

PS - As an afterthought, There may also be a small value 47pf - 51pf cap across the diodes as well, like we see in overdrives & Tube Screamers.
