Hey guys I just registered this seems to be a great forum for ppl who like to mod electronics like myself! Anyway, I bought a Boss Ge-7 used which had some problems and I attempted to fix it but too many traces had been burned off due to poor soldering techniques... I just ordered a Behringer EQ700 from eBay (bc I heard it was a Ge-7 clone). What I was wondering is if anybody has ever tried putting the guts of an EQ700 into the more sturdy case of a Boss GE-7. I purchased the Monte Allum Ge-7 mod with the assumption that i could fix the pedal and make it sound great... oh well. I'm hoping that some of the OPAMPS that came with the monte allums mod will help the Eq700 in terms of clarity... Basically what I'm going to attempt is to put the guts of the behringer into the ge-7 case I have and upgrade the components inside. Anyone ever try this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! -Mike |

| Welcome! No... no one has tried this (that they will admit!). Would be interested to hear/see how it goes for you! |

Hi MikeyV311 Welcome to the forum from Australia.
The EQ700 uses low noise JFET opamps, so it's unlikely that you will have a need to swap them out. And for your information, the majority of the BehringClone pedals use SMD-SMT components.
As for fitting it into a Boss enclosure, Laurie is correct, we are unaware of anyone doing or attempting this type of rehousing.
I would be most interested to see how & hear how you go with this. I do know you will have a number of mechanical issues to sort out. the most simple one, is the DC power connector, on the BehringClone pedals it's on the side next to the input socket. and the in-out sockets are mounted to the PCB.
I'm not sure if the center to center dimensional spacing, between the Slider pots, is the same as on the GE-7.
Good Luck Keep us informed of your progress.

Until I get my EQ700 shipped to me I've still been attempting to try and fix my broken GE-7... during my work, a couple of wires came off of the input and output jacks. Is there anybody out there that would be willing to take some pics of the wiring from the PCB to the input/output jacks and also the DC input jack? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys!! Thanks for your help and insight, and I will keep you guys informed with the progress of my little project once I get it started! Thanx again fellow modders!! -Mike |
