just been watching it yesterday. I had mixed feelings about the 3D thing since all my 3D experiences were at home with DVD and cheap glasses..... but this... OMG
totally awesome
the film was wicked. the story (whilst not being anything revolutionary new) was great and the visuals were simply amazing
go see it. |

I saw advanced preview yesterday (Wednesday the 16th) and oh my god I was blow away. James Cameron has made two of my 3 number one films. (AlienS & Terminator 2: Judgement day) so I knew it would be awesome. The 3D was spectacular, so real, so believable.
Best film of 2009. |

we kept our glasses.... and yeah it was the german version. I would've preferred the original version but a) my girlfriend wouldn't understand a fucking thing and b) it's VERY rare that a cinema over here shows the original version.
germans are very good at overdubbing though... it's not like those russian syncros were the original sound is still audible and a male voice speaks all characters |

| I'm just home from the train, watch it 1 hour ago. It is a real cool movie indeed. The 3D is great! I can highly recommend it. |

I really am not expecting much of this movie, but I have heard nothing but good reviews about it.
Besides it stole the name of a favorite cartoon of mine. Avatar: The Last Air Bender

Where are you in Germany Mully? I remember seeing one of the Matrix films (I think the second one?) in Berlin and you could only see the OV (with subtitles). This was probably a good thing since my girlfriend at the time spoke no German and my German is very basic...
I also remember before the movie seeing a trailer for "Findet Nemo"... (Finding Nemo). That was all dubbed into German (quite coinvincingly)...

I want to check this movie out..i haven't seen a 3D movie since Jaws 3 was out.... ...
BTW i'm sure the german voice overs are great but i love when Channel 4 (we get UK stations in Ireland) show those old Chinese martial and comedy/horror films ...really funny seeing the way they talk loads in chinese and only a couple of words come out in english....but the new ones are all subtitles these days rather than voiceovers.... .... |

I'm in Essen (Ruhrgebiet)
Findet Nemo is one of the rare examples were the overdubbed version was funnier than the real version (well almost) but that's most likely due to the fact that it's a comic and overdubbed in german AND english |

The trailer was hilarious. Most of it was just footage of the two German guys who did the voices of the sharks in the actual dubbing booth. I couldn't understand much (it was all German of course) but it was mainly outtakes and they looked like they were having a great time winding each other up...
back on topic: My guitarist advises that I must see Avatar 3D... I'll catch it over the holidays.

See it if you haven't. It was fantastic. Even my wife (who doesn't like sci-fi, fantasy, etc) enjoyed it!!!

| Does it feel like you're watching a video game? Too many movies today look too much like video games to me. CGI is cool when you can't tell its CGI, like how make up tends to look better on a girl when you can't really tell she's wearing makeup, but many of today's movies seem to not worry about if its obvious or not. Plus I just don't have any interest in watching actors who were just making faces in front of blue screens...Is this any different? I mean I guess the 3-D might make it a bit different, but the promos on TV I have seen look like either a video game or some Pixar film to me... |

Saw it on the weekend. It's awesome.
It doesn't look anything like a video game or a Pixar film. It's very close to photo-real and the 3D is subtle (you don't feel like anything is right infront of your face). The CG and real footage blend perfectly, it doesn't look at all like bluescreen. Very believable, and I'm one of those people who can't stand bad CG..
Also the world/reality in the movie is increadibly detailed, they haven't cut any corners...
I'm not a huge movie fan, nor am I into CG but I would definitely say go see Avatar 3D, it's worth it.
