Summer of 1990, GE7
Bought mainly because I was unhappy with the distortionsound coming out of my amp. Wanted to have the metalsound of the 80s and could only get overdriven sounds from the 70s. The GE7 did help me somewhat, but little did I know about different distortion- and overdrivecolours. Used to think: I have distortion on my amp, so do not need a pedal for that.
That was then, when I was practising and studying guitar a lot. The tone-quest did get bigger and the interest in bosspedals grew eversince. These days I study tones instead of notes scales and chords
Still like the idea of a simple amp with one sound and adding all the colours you need with pedals, as that is the easiest way really!!

Hi sp-1 and Dr.Bob. I've been extremely fortunate as I've never had to sell or off-load any of the pedals or gear I've been lucky enough to own and I'm enjoying it more than ever now. Pulling out some of those crazy old pedals I mentioned (Top Gear Fuzz, etc) and the early Boss pedals, is just like rolling back the clock - it makes me feel (and play..) like that hippy again!
Dr. Bob - my first CE-2 is lush - I've got a couple more (one, I think, is a very early silver screw) and this, first one I got, always seems to sound the best - probably just old sentimental me.
Cheers The_Doc |

A CS-3 since summer '95, I had just started playing bass a few months prior to that and I still have and use the pedal occasionally.
The pedal is from '90 and I bought it second hand |

| My first amp that I bought 1981 had no distortion at all so I was desperate to get some distortion. My mate had a TS-9 and I couldn't possibly get the same pedal he got so I decided to go for the Boss OD-1. Sadly I traded it when I replaced the amp the next year but I never forgot it and eventually ended up with 3 of them. |

| my first Boss pedal was an SD-1 about 5 years ago. I had a crappy practice amp and wanted something with a better overdrive sound. Of course I couldn't afford batteries every other week so I had to get a power supply, but since I already HAD the powersupply, it was only a couple of pounds more for a daisy chain, and since I already had that it would've been rude NOT to get more pedals...and more...and more. Now I have 9 compacts, multieffects, various tuners, power supplies and so on... |

I have always known that Boss were the best pedals, I thought that it was just common knowledge like Harley Davidson is the best motorcycle or Gibson is the best guitar. |

Since 1983 when I bought my first stomper ever, a used CE-2 SS. I have bought and sold a lot of equipment over the years, but the CE-2 is the only piece I kept since my beginner days back in the 1980ies |

Hi all
Back in the early 80`s my teacher did love Blues and he and his brother was building up a studio. One day he had ordered some effects from the music store and we was 5-6 of us waiting for the box to arrive. One day he had the big box with him to the studio where we was rehearsing and he opened up the box. THERE IT WAS. 8-10 Boss pedals and some other I didn't remember, I remember that there was an green Phazer, Yellow SD-1 , an Blue Compressor CS-2 + an Flanger- +++ The CS-2 is mine even this day today. Lucky Me. Today i have 86 Single Boss pedals and 7 Twin Pedals and some other Boss Pedals, yes I feel LUCKY.
Regards Tnsen. |

I think it was 1990, i found a guitar teacher and went there for the first time. He showed me his gear and at that time i knew very little about guitars and stuff so i was very impressed by his bcb-6 with all those crazy colored stomp-boxes and when he started playing i was blown away by it. So just a few weeks later i went to the store and bought my very first Boss pedal, a Heavy metal HM-2

Boss OC-2 DF30341, serial decoder puts it at August 1993, so I guess I bought it in 1994. I liked Neil Young's evil octave sound on the live LP "Weld", and my Boss was the only octave pedal I could find in the guitar shop. I recall being slightly put off by what seemed a steep price tag, but bought it anyway.

| 1984 i think - hm2 the day it came out - blew away my old tube screamer and i have never looked back since. The old micro racks also made my mind up - especially the graphic equaliser with the lights on the sliders - quality !! |

| Bought an OD-1 around 1979, been on and off Boss since then, started collecting them about four years ago. My second one was a CE-1, second hand of course, they was not cheap even then. |
