I've got a non-working phase 90. it's the BLOCK logo version, but the circuit board is the same as the SCRIPT board. The pot dates it to '77 i believe.

It worked for 10mins when engaged, then would just stop phasing. I tried to adjust the trim pot but that only made it worse.

Still phases for a couple mins, then just mysteriously stops. You need to leave it alone, powerless, unplugged for about 30 mins for it to reset itself.

If anyone's handy with fixing pedals, this one's for you!!!

make some offers :)

Hi cyberpunk409

What sort of deal-swap were you looking for?
I might be willing to purchase it off you.

Any chance of getting a closer closeup of the PCB?
What happened to it, just before it became intermittent?
Did it get over-volts or wrong polarity applied to it, or do you
only run it off the 9V battery.
Anything you can tell me about it, sometimes helps.

Sorry about all the questions.

Or did you want me to have a look at for you?.

You're welcome to PM me if you want.

I can't remember what part of Oz you were from. (old age)

Regards Dr. Bob

Your questions are fine Dr. Bob :)

let's see... well it is 30 years old, and i've only had it for 1 of those years, so i can't vouch for anything that happened to it in the other 29.

Definately not wrong polarity, as i accidently did that to my MXR Dist+ once and totally killed it (this is not DEAD, just sick). I don't know what happened to it... the very first day i got it, i hooked it up into my chain and engaged it, nothing happened. I was a little upset, but about 2mins later this beautiful phasing kicked in. It lasted about 10mins and then gradually disappeared.

I found that the only way to bring back that phasing, was to leave the unit disengaged for a while before turning it back on.

Anyways, I thought i'd have a play with the trim pot since i couldn't really make it any worse than it was. But playing with the trim pot made the phasing sound ugly, and the fading in and out of the effect still remains.

So in essence, i have no idea what's wrong with it!! I just ordered a '74 reissue Phase 90 (CSP-026) and from memory, the vintage Phase 90 sounded much better in the 10min span that it worked each time. Unless it can be fixed for $50 or less, i can't really be bothered with fixing it.

I'm looking to get around the $45 mark for it... or somewhere in that ballpark. I should also note, that it does not have a base plate. It came with a cardboard one that i threw out because i replaced it with a MXR base plate i bought off ebay. I am now using that base plate in another effect, and as such, this doesn't have one. From memory, the Genuine MXR baseplate cost me $15 (delivered) from ebay.

hope that clarifies it all up :) if you're still interested (??), i'll get some better close up pics for you.

Hi cyberpunk409

I didn't mean to leave you hanging, I'm still thinking about it.
I wasn't aware that the base was missing,

Any chance you might post some better pics of both sides of the board.

I forgot what part of Oz you're in/from.
PM me if you want.
