The song kept sticking in my head since this discussion so in the end I decided to record it. When it was time to do the vocals it became sort of a piss-take. At least it will make you appreciate the original more

Anything by Pearl Jam. And Eddie Vedder is a whiney little girl. I'd bitch slap him given half a chance, might make his testicles descend. |

What seems to be the big issue about the solo following the vocal melody (or the other way round if thats how it was written)?
It's usually played over the chord sequences to the verse or chorus anyway.
More to the point... Do some songs actually need a guitar solo, or any solo for that matter?

I think all rock tracks need a drum solo at least 4.5 minutes long |

An anthropologist goes to live with and study a tribe in Africa. As he approaches the village, he hears the sound of drums in the distance, but thinks nothing of it. However, after two weeks, the drumming has continued, so the anthropologist asks the chief when they will stop. The chief replies, We dont want the drums to cease... Several more weeks pass, and the drumming has almost driven the anthropologist insane, so again he asks the chief when they will stop. The chief replies, We dont want the drums to cease... More weeks pass, and the anthropologist goes to the chief, begging him to make the drumming stop. The chief replies, We dont want the drums to cease, because then the bass solo starts
