OK Guys
I give up too. No hate mail - PROMISE!
People talking, time frame -- 1:03 to 1:07
We forgot the Mic's were hot & live, while we were recording one of the storms.

I´ve heard them yesterday evening when I listened; SP-1 maybe you´ve used a Twin Reverb or a Marshall 100W too much |

It almost sounds like a mosquito buzzing briefly, to me. |

So I was listening to temporal storm just now and my housemate said it sounds like someone taking a wizz on some grass... Now i can't get it out of my head! Please tell me what you used so I can banish the thought once and for all |

Hi jaymzHal
Not having a dig at the quality of your gear, but really, how good are your computer speakers?
These are multiple field recordings of REAL Thunder & lightning storms.
The track was mixed on a pair of hi-end Near-Field monitors. and should really be listened to on 8 inch or bigger speakers.
I still don't understand, how the thunder claps & deep suboctave bass, sound like someone taking a wizz? Unless you are referring to the rain, if you listen to rain, even in movies it is very difficult to record. Or if you were listening to the track, through cheaper 2 inch plastic cased computer speakers?
May I suggest you listen to it on a hi-end HiFi system.
Regards Dr. Bob

Heh, I was listening through my laptop speakers! I suppose you lose all sense of depth to the sound like that. I was referring to the rain but i see your point. I've listened to it again through my sound system and it sounds much better Good work! |

Yeap...
Most laptop, & Flatscreen speakers will make "ANYTHING", sound like someone is taking a wizz..
Thanks for taking the time & trouble, to listen to it on better setup.

Ain't that the truth! I meant to ask you, what do you use for your field recording? I've tried to use my BR-600's (which I still wholeheartedly recommend, by the way) built in condensers to record some "Outside noise" i.e birds, distant church bells etc for something I'm working on but they don't do such a great job, which is a shame because they are excellent at recording a whole band in stereo as a jam recording device and for recording acoustic/vocals. Any suggestions?
Thanks, James |
