ok, so here goes. I bought a nifty IBM P4 HT 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb computer from a a guy for $200cad. CHEAP CHEAP. so i thought i'd go on ebay and get a 3.2ghz chip. i'm thinking hec, if i can buy a whole PC including DVD burner for $200, a chip can't be that much, right? Wrong. I bid aon a few of them, and idiots on eBaywill pay more than $60 for a USED CPU, check it out.,, Buy the way, the IBM thinkcentres are pretty honking fast for basic business use (no gaming etc) IBM 8189 computer 200 CAD, parted out. DVDRW ROM $40 512Mb 3200RAM $60 80GB HD $50 CPU $50 CASE $50 Motherboard $100 CD ROM $25 Video Card (basic AGP) $20 SO parted out, my computer is worth about $320, so if these idiots who must bid on teh CHIP would by a whole computer, they could freaking part them out and get afree chip!!!!! instead, they just make the stupid chip more expensive sor someone (like me) who just wants a cheap experimental upgrade. My solution, bid $XX.99 so I just come under there ridiculousl high proxy bid in order to force them to pay the highest possible price.
drives me batty
sorry for venting. i feel better now.

| Most stuff goes for more when parted out. I have recently seen someone part out a vintage tele from the 60s! Kind of an interesting auction strategy. If someone wants to get the complete guitar, they need to bid very high on each of the individual items. It is a scumbag way to drive up auction prices though. Who knows maybe we will soon see an SP-1, VB-2, or SG-1 sold in pieces! Just another reason to avoid evilbay whenever possible. |
