Either there's no 7136 opamp in there or the bottom plate has been replaced. $145 is way too much anyway. The MIJ DS-1 has an enormous price spread and if you search completed items on Ebay you'll find prices between $40 and $150. I wouldn't pay above $100 for one. |

The seller clearly does NOT claim Made in Japan and posted silver Made in Taiwan bottom plate.
No, this is not a $145USD pedal at all. |

I don't think the seller is trying to scam anyone, as their feedback is pretty good. However, if you check through some of his past auctions, he seems to put up a wide variety of items up for auction, and very few are music instrument related. So either this person is clueless and naive about the product he is auctioning, or whoever he go the item from or whoever he is auctioning the item for, is either clueless or a scammer. Perhaps they misread the SN#VN1977 to mean Vintage 1977?
And I'm wondering what all that dark matter caked in the battery compartment is...
UPDATE--I have decided to politely inquire with the seller as to why this pedal is considered vintage, and told him I am pretty certain due to resources I have access to, that the pedal was made in 2000. We'll see what he says or if the listing remains available or if it gets edited... |

UPDATED UPDATE!!!!!
I sent the seller a message about the item this afternoon, a few hours after my message, the seller has changed the wording in the listing. "Vintage" is no longer in the description and nothing about the different chip or what not is to be found in the listing. However, the price still remains the same....but at least I may have prevented someone from bidding on a "vintage" DS-1 from the year 2000. |

that's pretty much what I was talking about. how did he/she reply to your inquiry? and yes, I would consider asking $145 for a $39 pedal a scam! |

| Even more of a scam when you consider the fact that the $39 is the price of a brand new DS-1. I've seen "lightly used" newer DS-1s with the box go for Buy It Now prices around $25 in the past. |

Actually I have yet to hear back from them, I noticed the change becuase I put it in my Watched Items list to see if anyone would actually buy it. So they made the change a few hours after my inquiry yesterday, but they have yet to respond to me personally regarding my inquiry, at least at this point. And now, yes, I agree they are trying to scam someone after revising the listing but not the price, but prior to that, I just thought they may have been misinformed. |

not 2, 3. $39 times 3 = $117 |
