Hi all of you, Boss-holics
Well, I'm very into guitar effects (Boss specially), amps and everything related to sound since I was 15 years old. That is what made me decide study electronic engineering here in Mexico. I'm very interested in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), I mean, the Fourier Transform, sine, cosine, spectrum analysis, modulation.
Well, DSP goes beyond that. It is about converting analog signal into digital, then use algorithms to process the signal in order to filter, to compress or wathever you want and finally taking back the signal to analog again. I know many of you are analog enthusiasts, but in digital it is so easy to process the signal and achieve very complex purposes.
Nowadays, I'm 24 years old and I have obtained my mexican degree in electronic engineering after 4.5 years of post-high school studies. Well, in Mexico there is not a high school like in the US, it has different names, and we don't go to a college, we go directly to University. So, I'm a little confused in what should I be looking for; a Mastership, Post-graduates studies?
I want to study further on DSP because my basis are very general. And, why not? work in research, designing, testing of new gears; and why not? new Boss pedals. I remember had seen in Marshall's webpage that they were recruiting people with knowledge of DSP algorithms. That would be me!!
Ok, what I want to ask you is where can I study about this? Are there, in your countries, any universities, technology institutes with DSP programms or courses? Do they admit foreign students? Well, just tell me where to check, ok? About the language, well, I do like learn languages, that would not be a problem. I have been searching in the web but I have not found nothing but in Australia. There is a short course, I don't remember. I must check it again.
Thank you.

Hi ptero
There are a couple of members that live here in Australia.
If you gave me some details, when you find the info on the course,
maybe I could get in touch with the people that are running the course, & find out some more information & contacts for you.

Please give me all the info you have, including the State, that they are in -- Like:
Vic - Victoria
NSW - New South Wales
QLD - Queensland
NT -- Northern Territory
WA -- Western Australia
SA -- South Australia

I live in Vic, if that helps you...

Congratulations on the completion of your degree, in electronic engineering.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi Ptero
I once worked for Motorola Communications here in Aust. for about 15 years.
some of my Eng. friends, went off & did a 56000 DSP course, I believe, that it was run by Motorola itself. (but it is a very distant memory now).

I could try to ask them about it if I can chase them up, I have lost touch will a lot of them, but I still know a few, that became very close family friends.

I will call my Ex Eng. Mngr. & ask him, if he remembers?
It might be a few days though, as we are having a long weekend here in OZ. today is late friday here.
It's Melboure Cup Day (Horse racing) on Tue. And most workers take the Mon. as a day of annual leave.

4 DAYS OFF.. more time to play with the Boss pedals
Hey 4 days of EvilBay as well. I can hear my wallet creaking.

Let me know how you get on, some of the guys might still have course notes & maybe some data books.

Regards Dr. Bob
