<<< hijack and shameless self-promotion ALERT >>>
Or for about the same price as an NF-1 plus mod kit, you could get one of my VSW Swell pedals ... and not destroy an NF-1 and not have to do any soldering
Actually, I'm not really kidding about the destroying the NF-1 thing. It would have to be essentially wrecked already before I'd go cutting up an MIJ pedal.

| I just don't get it, in the ad it seems people sough after the SG-1 as the holy grail for its effect or something, and it's just for the rarity of the box. Modding a 60 USD NF-1 won't make it 300 USD worth instantly. |

Hi all I am lucky enough to own a ss mib sg1. the box shows a lot of wear but i guess thats why the pedal is mint, anyhow I find the pedal really quite useless and would certainly not pay what a lot of poeple are prepared to pay for it.....I think it is just the mystic that keeps it where it is in the collectability scale because they are hard to come bye. I know not everyone would agree with me here but I think if it were ever reissued it would only be a matter of weeks before anybody that bought it would want to get rid of it. Regards Neala |

Yeah, I posted a thread on the SG-1 a while ago here: http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9191
It is definitely a "half trick pony", but if you persevere with setting it and put a delay after it can sound very good at what it does.
The whole mystery thing is really what drives the price of this pedal - I built one as my first "clone" pedal because I just wanted to hear what it sounded like. I quite like it, but would never pay $400. My mint vintage SG-1 came as part of a larger deal, otherwise I still wouldn't own an original.

| I've used the slow gear effect a few times when I've used my ME-70. Certainly not enough to drop that much coin for an original SG-1. Actually I paid less for the ME-70 and got a lot more effects at my disposal(it's a "jack of all trades, master of none" type of thing). |

IMHO the SG1, SP1 and VB2 were victims of shilling and high prices set by ebay sellers. That comment about 'half-trick-pony' could be said for both the SG1 and SP1, the VB2 is at least useful.
