Looking at Goran,s tread about great dirtboxes he seems to be the only one who mentioned Tubescreamers in all their variations.
Just wondering who uses TS9 [or any of the others] often.
I really like them, as they are so subtle in their mash.
I use a TS9 and after it is a BD2 to boost treble a bit, great sound!!
OS2 seems to be alble to mimick the TS, but is more trebly than the real thing, and the mash is different.
What the hell is "Mash" I hear people ask? It is that added sound what the pedal adds to your overal sound, it does not really change your sound just adds something. No I have not heard that word by someone else, but I cannot helping and feeling that this is who I perceive the added sound. |

I have/had TS808 RI, TS10, TS7 and TS5, but I have to say that Im quite ambivalent to them. Playing with full band I like the sound a lot, but playing alone they are to nasal and middy with not enough bass.
I have recently modded my TS5 to more bass, more hifi, less mids, assymetrical clipping and I love the sound of it. But its a sound far from a Tubescreamer now.

Yeah... I have a TS7, TS9, and TS808 (reissue). None of them really "grab" me, but i've always assumed that was because I'm more partial to heavier stuff... |

I have a TS9DX in my pb. It was permanently on until I bought a DS-2. I know they are not the same thing (quite the contrary) but when I needed some distortion I select the "+" option and the sound was brilliant. Now with the DS-2 I only use it when I need something clean, just warmer, so I use the "TS9" option.
Very good pedal, I wouldn't trade it for anything. |
