well following the success I had with the Time Machine I decided to get myself a Satchurator as well (I gotta admit though I never heard one of Satriani's albums and don't suppose I'll be a big fan) - still the gear seemed very good.

and wow... (okay I gotta admit something else as well - I never owned or played thru a DS-1 - so if this Satchurator is a DS-1 clone than the DS-1 has a great sound) what a great sound.

the more switch is cool. it adds gain and mids which is quite useful for solos or stronger licks.

I am however quite disappointed by the noise factor. The adds claim that it's super quiet and even the manual states that the more switch doesn't add noise. Well it's not worse than any other pedal I tried so far (and is to be expected to some degree) but it's NOT super quiet and the more knob DOES add noise... quite a bit actually.

the sound however is amazing.... I'm wondering if I have a bad one though. Does anybody else have a Satchurator and does theirs make as much noise as the rest of their distortion pedals or is it way quieter?? (I gotta admit that was one of the reasons I bought it)

cheers,
Mully the admitter

How'd i miss this topic The Satchurator is my main distortion pedal at the moment. I'll write more about it soon. I got the Big Bad Wah and it too is amazing (similarly high price tag as the Time Machine).

okay I sent the satchurator back to the shop since the paint job wasn't superb tbh and I was curious if the noise was normal or a one off thing. (let me restate though that it's not excessive noise but simply as much noise as every other distortion pedal - the thing is just that the ads led me to believe it would be quieter than your usual distortion pedal)

the paint job on the new pedal is better - although I do think VOX has a slight paint quality problem. (and again - I'm uberpicky - but the paint or the finish on the time machine is just way better than on the satchurator - even the satchurator pedals I looked at during MusikMesse had those slight paint irritations)

the noise however is the same as the previous version I had.

Still it's a really great little box. I love the more feature and I really like it's creamy sound. I think it's one of the smoothest distortions out there.

so if someone comes up with a pedal that sounds like this box and has less noise without using a noise gate.... I'm in.
