My OD-1 just arrived today and opening up the package was indeed exciting as I had waited a long time to get my hands on it...
The serial # is 922409 which using the decoder will point to July 1988.. i also took out the backplate and can confirm that it is a OD-1E...
From the website, it states the OD-1 was dis-continued from 1985 but my unit was manufactured in 1988... does anyone know why?? could Boss be "re-issuing" the unit at that time due to demand?? maybe this has been explained before but hoping some1 can help me out here..
The OD-1 was made up until 1988. The 1985 date is simply wrong. The text on the main OD-1 page is very old and needs a bit of updating. I'll try to add this information next time I make any changes.
BOSS likes to fudge their production dates.. the serials tell the truth!
I've seen a record of a TW-1 #7200, which is a month earlier than the first ones should be..
The CE-2 is another example of this.. they said they stopped production in 1982 (iirc), but they produced it well beyond the Japan/Taiwan plant change (into the late 80s).
