Hi Franzoni.
You're right, they were half rack units, all analog and very easy to use, both in front of an amp or going direct. The overdriven sound is what you'll hear on Satrianis "Always with me, always with you". It does have a very distinct sound, very eighties if you will, and I'm sort of done with that particular sound.
The time based effects of the Rockman series were and still are incredibly lush and organic sounding, both the Stereo Chorus and the Stereo Echo. Now, I dig chorus, almost any old analog chorus for clean sound, but I find very few choruses sound good when driven. Take the DC-2. The DC-2, which sounds amazing clean through two amps (I use two amps ) just doesn't cut it with overdrive. It comes close to the clean sound of the Rockman SC, even better for some things, which is why I got it to replace the racks, as I just couldn't be bothered with the racks anymore. I also have an old TC SCF, so now this and the DC-2 compete for the chorus spot on the board.
Don't even get me started on the Rockman Stereo Echo, let me just say that it's like having one DM-2 in one channel, 75-300 ms, and another DM-2 in the other channel, only this one going from 125 ms to 500, which we all know a stock DM-2 don't do. The best part is that you only get one slider to control the two channels at once, so the two echoes will never get in the way of each other. Now, the Stereo Chorus going into the stereo input of the Stereo Echo into each channel of either board or amps is not something to be missed. The echo unit is one of the best kept secrets of delay units.
Oh man, looks like I got carried away even though I shouldn't get myself started...

Hi missica and welcome
I think you'll see from this what an enthusiastic and passionate bunch we are when it comes to pedals and all things music related.
Have fun and enjoy yourself here - we all help each other
PS: doooh...I forgot to say but that's a great set of pedals you have there - and I'm looking forward to the photos. |

Have you tried the CE-3? I really dig the sound when driven. Compared to a CH-1 which sounded like shit.
Another good one to try is an old Ibanez DCL-10, but it's digital. |

..i know that feeling... ...i'm using a small rack again with my pedals...the stereo and pingpong delays in the Pod xt pro are actually quite decent...i took went throught the overdriven chorus sound back in the day after listening to Gilmour doing it on pink floyd stuff with his electric mistress on a chorus type setting..i do it the odd time with the CE-2 when doing some 80's covers... the CH-1 i used to use just didn't sound good with overdrive and i also used to use two amps.. now i use one main amp either my 70's marshall superbass and 2 x 12 or my Musicman combo..the rack is running either side in stereo powered with it's own power amp into a couple of 1 x 12's....
Did you ever come across the big brother of your TC chorus pedal..the TC-1210 spatial expander 19" unit..?.now there is a piece of gear i would love to get my hands on... .... |

Missica, sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I need to reply
No Franzoni, I don't think I've ever heard the TC-1210 in the flesh so to speak. A friend just recently managed to get his greedy little hands on a TC 2290 that I was very impressed with.
