They are back, and its their first album in about 3 years and the first since Dave Wyndorf OD'd about 2 years ago. I believe they have a new rhythm section, but Ed Mundell still handles lead guitar duties. Its got a lot of nice sonic textures on it, and the lyrical content seems to be a little bit deeper than before, as it seems Dave got a bit reflective after the OD. I don't know if he's cleaned up his lifestyle for good, but its a decent record. Not as amazing as Powertrip or Spine Of God, but a good record nonetheless.
On a side note, Ed is interested in trying out one of my fuzz pedals...How f*ckin' cool is that? and this is just after seeing a pic of it on my myspace page... |

Led Zepplin II, Talking Heads Stop Making Sense: Special New Addition, Foo Fighters In Your Honor, and The Strokes Room On Fire. The obvious reviews for the first two. Foo Fighters double disk album was a little week. Like almost every double album it could be wittled down to a great single disk. As for The Strokes, I came in expecting crap because their first album is great. I was very surprised to enjoy as much of it as I did. So much in fact that it has been stuck in my car stereo since I bought it. |

The latest album I bought was by some unknown band I saw open up for The Thermals called "History", they were really rocking live, but their cd doesn't really capture that energy, they have two keyboardists, neither of which I could hear at the concert, and I was perfectly fine with that. Unfortunately the keyboards come closer to the front of the mix on the cd, and make me wish they weren't there. I tried to find a website for them, but do you know how hard it is to search for "History" and reference to band? Not easy is the answer.
I don't really buy much music any more, the latest cd being an exception since I doubted that I would find it for download anywhere.
As far as actual listening goes, I've been into older Afghan Whigs albums, and Reuben's Accomplice... lately.
