I own a Boss Compressor. It's about 3-4 years old and has receieved light use at most.
The other night I was playing and I note that the tail end of the notes had a fuzziness as they faded.
Hmm I thought I need a new battery. I put in the new battery and I get no sound... at all. I take it out and test it. Brand New fully charged. I take another new battery and drop that in. No clean sound but when I engage the pedal I get a weak, very distorted version of my guitar.
I pull out that battery, re test it ( Good) and put it back in same deal. I also note the the L.E.D. is not lit at any point in the proceedings.
I would hate to think that this pedal completely failed given that it is not that old and has not gotten a lot of use. I get the feeling if I sent it in it would be $50 just to look at it and you know how that goes.
Were you doing anything "new" with the pedal before it failed? Maybe trying a new AC adapter?
Have you tried it with a PSA adapter?
Hey there
No I was not doing anything new with the pedal and I do not own an AC adaptor. I will say that up until thr momrnt when the decaying notes had that fizzy sound things were just fine with that pedal.
This is nothing more than a guess, but judging by the varying behavior you get everytime you change the battery, a battery connection may have worked itself loose.
I have no idea if I'm on the right track though: I've never experienced that in any pedal I've owned, boss or non.
OK so a clean the input & output wth contact cleaner and I note that the new baterry I put in yesterday was dead in the compartment.
I loaded in another new battery and now the off position allows the direct sound to come through and the on position sounds just like when you are playing and you kill the power switch.
The L E D doesn't light by the way when you hit the switch.
I mentioned this earlier but it seems to have killed a new battery I left in it on Sunday.
I don't own the power adapter but could borrow one from I guy at work. Are they all the same? He just bought a Boss Digital Delay and the power adapter with it.
