Ok, I have some questions about modifying a DF-2. This is all theoretical since I don't own one and I'm not a modder/electronics geek. I see there's another DF-2 thread but it's in a totally different direction than what I'm going for so I thought I'd start another one.
First of all I am wondering what distortion it uses. Did they just put on the same circuit as the DS-1 or some other common distortion pedal? Basically, what does it sound like, distortion wise?
Secondly, how I understand it, if you use the feedback feature, the pedal shuts off completely after you let up, meaning, you can't feedback and then keep the distortion. Is that right?
What I would like to do is mod a DF-2 so that you can use the feedback feature but not have it shut off the distortion when you let up. Basically put them on 2 seperate switches instead of both using the single pedal. The best way I can come up with is adding a jack for a momentary footswitch and having the footswitch take over either the on/off function or the feedback function. The ideal would be pedal = distortion on/off, footswitch = feedback.
Other than that, possibly adding a Keeley-style toggle switch that locks the distortion ON and stepping on the pedal would simply activate the feedback feature and not turn the pedal on or off. Flipping the toggle switch back would put the pedal back to default.
That's all I can come up with at the moment. I know this might be impossible if the distortion and feedback circuits are totally intertwined and can't be seperated like this. I don't know the circuit board of the DF-2 so that's why I'm asking. Is this possible?
