I've gotten some feedback on this, but I still don't understand. I was told for my DD-5 tone mod to wire a capacitor to the "outside lug," but I don't know which lug is the "outside" one.

Am I wiring both leads of the capacitor to the outside lug, or does one of the leads go to ground? Is the outside lug the one that's not wired to anything?

Also, when I read the potentiometer, it goes from no resistance, peaks at 12k ohms in the middle, and then lowers down to a little over 1k all the way at the other end. Is this some special type of potentiometer?
Thanks.

Put each leg on a different outer lug. The cap goes across the 2 outer legs of the pot.

In general, you can not measure impedance correctly while a component is connected to the rest of the circuit. This is why you don't read the correct value of the potentiometer.
