If you just had to use one Boss OD/dist-pedal for a session including everything from blues to the heaviest of metal, witch one would you choose? This is another way of finding the most versatile Boss OD/dist. Even if I donīt like it that much I think MD-2 would be my choice.

Great question Goran Tuff question; Now I have to go away & think......
Is the question based for all Boss pedals, or for just the ones we personally own?

i think i'd get by with the BD-2. i don't use really heavy gain but this baby driving a JCM800 could do a decent classic metal sound.
it's a tough question tho..!! |

| Kind of difficult to answer your question... Maybe if you changed the subjec to "The most versatile OD/Dist couple" it would be easier to answer... |

| Yeah, you can get way with a lot with a modified BD-2. A good all in one in the SD-2! I really recommend those for a good pedal that you don't have to modify. |

...or you can go with the obvious DS-1 choice. With a little eq tweaking on your amp you can get any tone you want.

| OS-2. even with the color knob on distortion you can get some really crisp overdrives out of it with the drive down. Of course, theres the combined OD/DS and a whoel wealth of overdrives - as long a you have a good amp you can get loads out of this. |

| A Keeley modded SD-1 or BD-2 will get you a lot of sounds. |

I like the idea of the OS-2 also but I think it maybe a little too much of everything but not enough of one.
I guess I would pick a BD-2 myself but this is just too hard to choose! |

| OS-2 is good but i think that the SD-2 is the ultimate in versatility of OD textures |

I would choose probably the MT-2. I just switch it on to get very high distortion. The DS-1 just doesnt get enough gain for what i do, but i still need it in front as a boost.
Im still waiting on my MD-2 to arrive, so Im not sure what it will be like, but the one i tried before was amazing, so i might have to change my answer when it gets here |

whoops i read the topic wrong. for straight up OD i would pick the SD-2.
but getting on topic, for all OD/dist purposes i would pick the DS-1 as long as i could have an EQ after it .. if not i would take the MD-2. its an underrated treasure if used correctly |

| I'd say an OD-3 for rythm, and an DS-1 before it when you want to boost the distortion... it sounds great, heavy (in a good way) and full! |
