Supposedly the CE-2B only adds chorus to the harmonics leaving the original note in tact which is why it's suited for bass but on looking at the schematics of both I can't tell the differece between the two with the exception of the Mix control.
Is there any other difference? |

Only the value of the coupling cap right before effect level pot. It is 33nF in CE-2 and 12nF in CE-2B.

| Thanks, I have been lurking here for a long time, I am an effect builder and like to Mod Boss pedals, thought I should stop being a fly on the wall. |

Not famous but my builds are getting great reviews. I do a clone of the DC-2 that has caused many DC-2's to start collecting dust or hit e-bay. I also just released a compressor and overdrive both top quality.
So far just selling pedals and mod kits on e-bay and The Gear Page but I am working on setting up a couple of dealers and getting my web site up.
I am workin on a clone of the CE-2 to be released in Fall of 2009 based on my mods to a Taiwan CE-2 that I did. Basically just re-capped it and put a OPA-2134 for the audio op-amp and TL062 for the LFO, all cap values the same but film for the 1uf, changed the .0082 caps to .01 changed the depth cap on the clock from 47p to 58p 1% mica. All other small value caps except the flip flop to Mica. Audio grade Nichicon caps for the EL's on the power rails. Also removed jumped the Diode-Resistor circuit on the DC-tap so I can run with a PSA adaptor, with the new op-amp I was able to increase the Virtual Ground to 7.5v without a problem but it sounds best at 6.8v. I must say it sounds pretty fine. I am quite confident that after re-doing the entire circuit with 1% metal film resistors it will sound even better.
Anyhow I have amassed a small collection of CE-2's including a very cool long dash silver screw model (which I won't be modding) so I can tweek them until I have the circuit dialed in. Basically I want it to sound like a perfect CE-2. My DC-2 clone sells for $289 which is a lot but it's a lot of work and I wanted to make a great sounding chorus that I could sell for about $180 and all the other CE-2 clones out there don't sound like CE-2's. So anyhow I want to pick up a couple of CE-2B's as well for circuit analysis. I just scored a MIJ CE-2b on e-bay last night for $22.50. Not sure if it's reallly MIJ because the backplate is Black (not an option AFAIK) but for $22.50 I couldn't resist.
I missed the value difference of C14, thanks for the help. |
