I recently picked up a Loco-box CM-01 compressor for cheap as part of a deal. It looked like a joke... but... it doesn't sound too bad!

Anyone else have one of this brand?

I have had a couple of Coron pedals, phaser and distortion. Think they was related in some way to Loco box.
Loco is really cult

I tried a Cosmochorus once, a very good and warm pedal but it was too pricey for me

Hi Laurie
I don't see many of these here in Oz.

What does it use for the active part of the compression circuit?
A dedicated VCA?
Or Op-amps & some fast rectifiers, controlling a FET?

Any chance of some internal pics?

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi Laurie
8 Pin Plastic DIP?
Or 8 Pin Metal can?

No problems about the pics, I understand.

Do you think it's better than the Dyna Comp?
As you know the Dyna Comp uses the 3080 as well.

Plastic DIP. Dunno about the dynacomp. I'll have to do a side-by-side when I get the chance. For $20 if it is half as good I did OK

Opps - Sorry Laurie
I accidentally clicked edit your post, instead of posting a new one.

It's supposed to be a bit better than the Daya Comp.
That's why I was wondering if it was a metal can 8 pin type.

I wonder if there are Schematic/s for any of the Locobox pedals?
Especially this compressor.

Regards Dr. Bob

I posted before my very first compressor pedal was by Aria when Laurie got the Aria chorus pedal.. and it looks like they bought this crowd out or bought pedals off them and re-badged them according to the link Laurie provided....if you remember i said it was pretty decent as far as i could remember except for the crappy plastic box it was in..might be worth futher investigtion if you were getting the innards of 'the choker' for a price of a secondhand aria and also the aria version might be easier to find.......

I remember researching Solec pedals a few months ago as I picked up their flanger (pics in the Guts thread) and it's a nice sounding unit. The same shop had a stereo chorus, analogue delay and phaser. The delay sold pretty quickly but I think the others are still there. From what I found on the interwebs, Solec use the same internals as the 80s Locoboxes, as well as a couple of other rebranded 80s Japanese pedal line-ups.

Worth trying for sure.

I got 4 Washburn pedals that looks exactly like the locobox pedals on the site you linked to.
The Flanger and compressor is very good while the distorton and eq don't measure up to competitors.
