The headphone output of the TR606 was controlling the SYB3, so it's basically just the equivalent of the drum pattern. But, because there are numerous tones coming from the drum machine it makes it jump around like crazy. All the modulation in the sound comes from altering the separate drum levels on the 606 and fiddling with the envelope dials on the SYB3. I found that you can kind of write a tune by using the toms on the 606.
I'm not alone ! |

This weekend I tried driving SYB-3 with a Boss DR-670 and guess what, I liked it a lot! Perfect for jamming along with loops from my guitar and different delays. I had a LOT of fun, this setup is highly recommended for every owner of SYB-3/5. Putting different effects after SYB-3 (delays, choruses, phasers etc) makes it even more interesting. The good thing is when you use a drum machine both of your hands are free to manipulate the SYB-3/5 or other effects. Kulten, I will search your topics to find out more of your tricks!
