As a lover of Les Paul guitars I'm gutted but also grateful for all he did that allowed me to take such great pleasure in playing the instrument he created.

A sad day and RIP Les.

A great loss, if is wasn't for Les we would be all playing acoustic guitars and there would be no Rock n Roll or anything else for that matter.

R.I.P Lester and thank you, thank you for your inovations which make it possible for me to play the way I do, you will be missed

A true innovator. Anything you've listened to since about 1947 has his fingerprints on it...period. Without his work with overdubbing(the eight track system is his) and his pioneering work in use of tape(not just for recording, but for creating echo effects) as well as reverb and phasing, 20th century recorded music wouldn't be nearly what it is today.

TKO Ken and I were apparently typing at the same time.

I still think it's so ironic that most people today listen to his namesake guitar, and they automatically seem to think of the thick crunchy distorted sound you hear through a Marshall amp, ie Jimmy Page and Peter Green, etc. It's funny that this guitar was designed for a player whose sound was the opposite extreme; super clean, crisp, with a healthy dose of echo. I bet there are few out there that use a Les Paul in this day and age and actually try to go for that original Les Paul sound...

Yep ..i remember dicussing this board before..i had just seen the documentary on BBC 4 a couple of months back and mentioned that he seemed to be using a boss pedalboard but the picture wasn't great and i couldn't make out the green pedal..looks like a PN-2.... Scotty Moore also uses the DD-3 and the CH-1 like Les did...he uses the chorus to recreate the modulation effect of his old tape echo...even at in his 90's Les was still gigging and using pedals... amazing..as some else posted a real innovator, only for him and Leo god know what we all would be doing, probably struggling to be heard above the brass section of the band... not only invented the electric guitar but changed the whole face of music in the 20th century with his inventions.....hopefully god has a few kegs of the black stuff..he deserves to put his feet up and have a few of these..... RIP....
