Just wondering, as I would like to get one one day and am curious as to what the Boss experts think they are worth.

Let's hear it!

Hey PunkFloyd,

A couple of weeks ago I picked up an almost mint VB-2 at a local pawn shop for AU$250 (around US$225) which is well under the US$500+ they seem sell for on eBay. I would have paid probably up to around AU$300 but no more.

I also plan to find the last two pieces of the holy trinity (SP-1 & SG-1) locally, might take a few years but I can wait.

My VB-2:

Right now not more than 150 euros, if it's the last pedal to make my collection complete I probaply will pay 1000 euros. But my collection is far from complete so that won't happen soon.

I payed way too much for mine 3-4 years ago, around US $350.
The pedal as such is of course not worth that, I seldom use it, but I hope itīs a good investment

I got mine as part of a trade including a mid 70s Big Muff.. but if I was paying for a mint one, I'd look around $300us. I'd only do this if I was serious about it.. and I might still look for a cleaner one one day. I have a line on an SG-1 locally, but it's hard times, and I don't know if I can do it!

I've got since two weeks a VB-2 to my collectie. Very happy with it! Sounds really great. My VB-2 is like a new one. No (or some real small one's) paint chips or something like that, with box and manual. I payd 200 euro's with shipping costs. A lot of money but here in the Netherlands, mostly of those VB's (if you can find one!) go's for 250 euro's without box!

Wow that's in wonderful condition! Since posting this thread I've managed to find one locally for $270AU which is great. It's got a few scratches, but thats okay, i'm not a collector so it will be getting gigged alot.
What city are you in? I'm in sydney.
I'm trying to think where I saw a slow gear selling a few weeks ago for a great price. If I can remember I'll let you know.

I would love to score an SG-1 for cheap, but I think most of those deals are long past.. too many people are informed about something's value via the interwebs.

I should have grabbed one at $200 @ Capusle Music a couple years ago.. I'm feeling stupid now, since I have a line on one and might pay "fair market price" for it... used condition, probably $350? I hope he has a soft heart and sells it to me for cheaper.

I wish laurie!

Does everyone here agree that $250 Aus is kinda reasonable for a SG-1 SS with no box or manual that has a couple of paint chips?

Its what my friend paid for his

Yes. About $100 under the current market price I'd say...

It's a good price for one as they seem to go for more, but I wouldnt pay more than $100 for one in terms of functionality. For what it actually does I'd much rather use a volume pedal (or volume knob for that matter!)
I can see why collectors would pay heaps for it, as it is rare, but after borrowing it off a friend, it seemed clear to me why it wasn't a big seller.

Yeah she's certainly a looker.

So how do you like your VB-2? Scratches are not a problem, I love beaten up pedals just as much as minty ones, it just adds to the mojo.

I'm in Melbourne so unless you've been down south lately the SG-1 you spotted is most likely far far away.

I can't think of any sound the VB-2 makes that would be useful for anything I'd play and since I'm not a collector of rare Boss pedals, Im not really willing to pay more than $20. There.

Anyway, there one in mint condition with box on the bay right now - I'm not sure, but I think the BIN was $450. Go figure
