| I have a CE-2 and a CH-1. I bought the CH-1 to run two amps, but now I have a RV-3 and don't use the CH-1 very much anymore. Stand alone with just one amp the CE-2 is a richer sound, but it wont run two amps. |

| Just picked up my CE-2!! serial number 738700. Can't wait to try it out against the CE-3 tonight (and there's a possibility of picking up a CH-1 on the way home...) |

| DC-2 is my favorite stereo chorus effect. CE-2 is great if you are only running one amp. CE-1 is also another fine chorus pedal. Those are my top three. |

Out of the CE-2, DC-3 and CH-1 I've owed, The CH-1 was the worst, and CE-2 best over all the ce-3 is on my next to buy list |

Hi Christo
The CE-3 should sound great with your twin amp set-up.
Just keep the 2 amps about 6 feet (2M) apart, for the best effect. A bit like when your dad would set-up his good home stereo. The best listening zone is about 6 feet in front of both amps/speakers. at the apex of an imaginary triangle.
Hope you find one soon.
Regards Dr. Bob |

My first ever Boss pedal was in fact a digital CH-1. I parted with it soon enough. It took me more than a year to test a chorus pedal again and this time it was a ce-2. In short, perfection in a box. There has been said enough about the excellence of this one, so I will stop right here.
I have also some experience with the DC-3. When I got interested in Boss pedals, I was most intrigued by this one, because I could not figure out what it was for. My first DC-3 was a defective one. The seller did not elaborate on its functionality, so I sold it again as broken (what that scalper should have done in the first place ) and lost quite some money in the process. Not a good start. When I finally got my hands on a DC-3 in working order, I was disappointed. Maybe it was because I soley used it in mono, but it sounded sterile and did not anything good to my sound. I sold it and lived without one up until recently. A great offer came up on ebay (box, manual, reasonable price), so now I have one again. Actually I don't know why, but maybe someday, I will find it useful. Somehow I want to believe that this is a good pedal and I haven't used its full potential.
Sorry for my ramblings, but I don't really know, what I am to make of this pedal. Normally I know very soon, whether a pedal works for me, but in this case I am at a loss.
However, the CE-2 is, beyond all doubt, the standard. The other chorus pedals, Boss or Non-Boss, are IMHO not as widely and indiscriminately usable as the CE-2. You can't go wrong with a CE-2
P.S.: My DC-3 has a very curious label. It is of quite dark blue and has the serial number not in the battery compartment, but on the label, just like pedals made in Taiwan do. In fact, the serial number has the same configuration as a Taiwanese pedal. |

Hi ununtrium
Just be happy that you have a CE-2, It has to be one of Boss's most sleeper pedals.
As you may have read, I have more CE-2's that is probably legal. And running at least 3 in a Tri-Chorus setup, is as unforgettable as your first love-kiss.
The only thing that beats the CE-2 is the Arion SCH-1 stereo chorus -- yes even in mono.. And I believe that these are starting to climb steeply on the open market & EvilBay..
And remember the pedal that you dislike today, might be the next future retro sound that you & others are looking for.
Perhaps your opinion of the CH-1 was soured by your past experience with that sh!tty scalper.
Regards Dr. Bob

| The SCH-1 sounds great! I worry about it's longevity though; the construction quality is beyond horrific. |

The Boss manual for the CE-2 shows jacking into a J-5 then the chorus to the amp, with another line from the J-5 to the other amp. Or you could just run a delay before it. Send the dry signal to the ce2, and the wet to the second amp. Most chorus' give out a dry signal to the second amp anyway. The only difference is with the ce2, is you get both the wet and dry output, instead of just the wet. iirc Br.Bob suggested using a dd3 back when i got my ce2 this summer The ce2 'could' be modified for stereo, think I read Roger Myers did one Theres a ce3 for sale locally, but I'm already suffering from pedal overload!! Can't decide on the pedals for my bcb63(60 + 3) |

Thanks for all the responses. Here's what we're looking at: CE-2 9 votes CE-3 4 votes CH-1 and DC2 2 votes CE-1, DC3, ME-50 1 vote
Most noticeably absent from the list for me is CE-5. My brother has one and loves it, but to be fair, he hasn't done any Boss to Boss comparisons. Of course, my GAS was too strong to wait for the results so I went and got myself a 2005 CH-1, a MIJ 1987 CE-2, and a MIJ 1986 CE-3. SO far I have only heard the CE-3 and was not at all impressed, but I'm starting to wonder if it was a weak battery issue. Gonna go back and try all three with an adaptor. Thanks again, and starting a new thread on phasers this time...

Hi 4evrnewB There are 2 different versions of the CE-5 Analog & Digital Do you know which one he has, This is one of the reasons we get different comments when comparing CE-5's. A lot of people don't know this simple fact, I have the Analog CE-5, but have never heard of seen the more modern digital CE-5.
The Analog CE-5 has a heap of tone control option, but. As you may already know, I always seem to gravitate back to my CE-2's There is something about the simplicity of just 2 knobs....
Good score with all the chorus units....

I have a digital CE-5. The difference between that and an analogue CE-5 (Which I used to have) is negligible - it's a littler clearer in the high end (inevitably), but the nature of the CE-5's design, with the effect level control and the filters, means that any difference is minor.
I have a CE-2, which I like very much, although for my money it doesn't have a fast enough maximum rate to do the pseudo-rotary sounds which I like to get from a chorus.
As to the best Boss chorus sound ever... it's the one in the JC-120, isn't it? |

| To add some to the list, I really dig my CE-2b both for bass and guitar and there's also a really cool chorus sound in the RDD-10 microdelay. (12 bits digital, so it does have an analog edge to it.) |
