most people probably have one... the deal that you passed up and now you hate yourself for it.
back before i was really into collecting, i used to go to the local pawnshop and check for cheap pedals. one day i went in with the intention of buying an overdrive pedal. the shop had 2 pedals; both were 50 dollars each..the first was an old beat up SD-1(taiwan)and the second was this big blue clunker that kinda looked like a toy. after laughing at how ridiculous this "chewtoy" looked, i grabbed the beat up sd-1, and headed for the counter. While talking to the cahier, i asked him what the heck that big blue clunker was, he didnt know much about guitar, but said its an old Boss pedal called the BF-1. after laughing some more i exited the store feeling happy with my purchase.
about a month later im surfing ebay, and i come across this big blue "clunker." i clicked the link, and noticed that the seller was from the same town as me. then i saw how much it was selling for.
since that day, ive never laughed again.. |

Yeah - while in Minneapolis in early 90's there was shop called "Abe's consignment house"
There was a hideous "no caster" strat. had the faded pickguard that was faded so bad, it was almost blue in colour, cracked pickguard and a repainted body.
It was $125.00.
If indeed it was a legit early 60's strat - probably could sell the pickguard by itself for double that today.
If any of you are from the area or been to Minneapolis, Abe's was the best shop ever. |
