Hi Guys As promised a few days ago. Here are the pics for Dr. Bob's Simple Audio Probe.
This was an idea that originally popped up in this thread, & there was one other one, that I can't remember. http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5096&whichpage=1
The probe can be used for both tracing signals - with a small amp. Or. It can be used as the injector probe, when connected to a Signal Generator.
The probe is capacitivly coupled with a 100nf (nanofarad)= (0.1uf) Chip cap, of about 50VDC, to block any DC & offset voltages.
I used a very small low voltage cap, as we will only be using this with low voltage pedals. As well as, to keep the size small enough to fit into a spent or other-wise new biro case.
More text to follow: (if anyone needs more instructions)
Here are the pics. (Note the pre-chewed pen-top lid, this makes the probe work even better). I used a hot glue gun & hot glue to quickly assemble everything. The end of the pop-rivet has been cut a bit shorter, so that the top of the pen, can be placed back over the tip, when not in use.
WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS ON HIGH VOLTAGES as found in Tube Amps

Regards for now Dr. Bob

Yeah, where the hell is TD at when you need him most? heh
Looks great Bob, very frugal! I suppose you could probably fix a jeep with a paperclip & rubberband as well.. Who says one must keep Fluke in business? |
