Unfortunately my knowledge of the Boss range doesn't stretch far beyond the guitar pedals and I'm desperate for a Boss drum machine. I'm after a Daft Punk type sound as heard on Da Funk. I'm thinking DR-202 but want to be sure before I get one off eBay. Can you guys help??

I've got a DR-770, if I had any inclination to spend more time with it I'd tell you what I thought of it, but I have a real drum set that I find much more interesting.

As the name implies the DR-202 isnt a straight forward drum machine but more a groove box made for dance & techno styles. If You want a "normal" drum machine go for a DR-770, DR-670 or the new DR-880. I have the DR-670 and its a very cool drummer in a box

A while ago I wanted a new drum machine and was faced with a similar dilemma. So many to choose from and so little information. I just went out and bought me a DR-880 without researching thinking it's the latest one so it's probably good.

Soundwise it's a very good drum machine but I don't particularly like the user interface. It takes a long time to do simple things and I can never remember how so I have to experiment all the time to find the functions I want. I wish it came with a computer program that I could use to control it.

the dr-202 is an excellent drum box, very simple to use and you can get a lot of sounds very easily...
it's intuitive and you don't need to be an expert to get good drumtracks!
the only drawback: it only has a RCA out, which is very noisy, and all the parts of your rhytm (snare, kick, hi-hat, etc...)have the same out...

but nevertheless it's a good box, reliable and funky!!
