Quite pleased so far!! Very organic sounding and easy to dial in compared to my Qtron. Qtron is ace for versatility and fun factor, but for simple and great sounds I'm really digging the TW-1. As someone had mentioned in a previous thread, it seems to add something extra tonally (like many of the vintage Boss pedals) that results in a very warm overall sound. Think I played the Estimated Prophet riff for at least half an hour I seemed to gravitate to the drive setting most of the time- anyone know what that switch does technically, other than the obvious differences in sound?
The drive switch controls the direction of the filter sweep. Estimated Prophet uses the "up" setting, though with a Mutron originally.
I sense that the down setting is built into most filters. For a bodacious example, think of the bass riff in "Flashlight" by Parliament. In that number, a synth is filtered "down." The more expensive MoogerFooger filter pedal is "down" only. The Moog is more flexible with the voltage control options, but your TW-1 is simply convenient and musical.
Thanks for the explanation Progger. And yeah, I was in the up position for that riff, as well as most of the other stuff I used it for. I know Jerry actually used a MXR as well as the Mutron for his envelope sounds...
