Well Laurie SP-1 is not totally worthless as a pedal, it can be used as a mid-boost and sound quite nice. But of course its not worth all the money generally asked for it, certainly not. But it is with SP-1 as with for example splits of Jimi Hendrix crashed guitars, no great use of any of them, but great collectors item. So my advice is wait until you find an SP-1 really cheap, then buy. This happens in the real world, I have bought 2 SP-1s for around US$ 60 two years ago or something.

And from a Technical point of view, I second Laurie's motion.... Regards Dr. Bob |

Pray tell, with eBay, craigslist, and any number of online services, pretty much letting the cat out of bag with respect to astronomical prices for sp-1s ... where did you find yours for $60??? |

Yes, I have a S/N 6400 SP-1 too. No box or manual though.

I found both in Swedish local buy/sell sites, and of course I had a lot of luck no other Boss collector saw them Well, the second one originally sold for about $120 and I bought it for that, but before I had paid it the seller had tested it and it didnt work. So he told me I could get it for half the price. I said sure. The only problem was a loose cable. I have done more of cheap findings of rare Boss pedals in this type of small/local buy/sell sites and even in Swedish music stores. This summer I bought a very fine TW-1 SS (Touch Wah) for a little less than US $60.
