Just thought I'd pass this along. I'm at the point now, between how long it took my mail to get there and now this, that I'm simply no longer going to purchase from any Canadian sellers unless they take PayPal. It's not their fault; it's the country they live in.

C.K.

A strange occurrence happened when I went to the bank to cash your money order for your item. As per my usual routine, I cash my money orders at the bank and once they are cleared I proceed to the post office for mailing. When I presented your USPS money order (which I have received and cashed for the past eight years using eBay) the teller told me she would have to call her central branch to confirm its authenticity.

She was ordered to seize your money order along with 2 other USPS MO's I had for cashing because apparently the serial number prefix 740 has contained alot of bogus counterfeits. She told me they would be keeping it until Monday when they could put a trace on and confirm its legitimacy. Rest assured that once I get confirmation from my bank I will ship your parcel.

I apologize for the delay but I'm forced to sit and wait. The 3 MOs came from Wisconsin, Michigan and California so I'm sure they're legit but they were instructed to put a hold on every USPS MO falling under that prefix. I will let you know more when I do.

As a Canadian, all I can say, the best thing to do is simply use Paypal and deal with trusted sellers and buyers.

I have cashed USPS money orders (pink ones) with no trouble.

Although I HATE Paypal Fees, it sure saves a lot of time going to the bank or post office to get money orders, mailing payment etc. With the price of gasoline and THE PRICE OF YOUR TIME, paypal, makes sense.

If you get ripped off, paypal can't help you get your money back anyways.

Umm, I find it annoying to buy from people who DO NOT take paypal, but, everyone has their perogative.

VERY ODD THING ABOUT NORTHBOUND MAIL
- economy mail comes to Canada FAST and only $4.85 for a pedal .
- Global Priority and EXPRESS take FOREVER because you have to print the export forms, and they ALWAYS GET HELD IN USA CUSTOMS (I have tracked this, last time, a pedal sat in USA CUSTOMS FOR 3 weeks!!!!) (i.e. date last in USA to date at sortation plant in Canada was 3 weeks, could be some buddy fell asleep at the border on ourside .... i dunno )

- economymail uses the GREEN STICKER, and, for all intents and purposes, it seems to "skip" customs and comes straight to my house!!!

Don't know if that helps, but that's what I've figured out.

Hmmm. That's interesting info. I probably still would not send a package outside the US without tracking capability, though.

Grace and peace,

Steve

You are right Phostenix. UNINSURED AND UNTRACKED IS RISKY - but don't forget that there is always $100 of insurance included with all parcels! just keep the reciept. Tracking is a nice to have info, but really all you need is insurance.

Yeah, its a disappointment if you don't get the pedal, but atleast you get your money back.

I have heard of horror stories with UPS, but, POSTAL SERVICE IS THE BEST FOR PRICE AND SPEED, AS LONG AS YOU DON"T NEED THE PEDAL FOR TONIGHTS GIG!!!!

I ALSO SHOULD CLARIFY - DELAYS IN CUSTOMS COULD OCCUR IN EITHER COUNTRY - so , suffice to say, the extra trip to the customs office COULD cause extra delays. Like I said earlier, some pedals get picked for TAX collection (GST 7%) and some do not. I have had about a 65% success rate of getting my pedals tax free, and they have all been shipped using LETTERMAIL with the little green export sticker - so not only have I paid only about $5 per pedal, but I also saved $5.00 FEE and 7% GST!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA I hate fees hatem hatem hatem!!!!!!!!!

The transaction is proceeding -- after some back and forth between the seller and their bank, the money order was accepted conditionally, so everything appears to be okay for now and the pedal is on its way here.
