Hello all, I'm hoping some of you with vast electronic knowledge can help me with this..

I have a DSD-2 which I would like to trigger in various ways.. I have a DR-220A to achieve this in a sequence, but that unit won't send a trigger pulse outside of a sequence playback (ie: no realtime button-pressing).

So I figured it'd be nice to rig something up to send a +5v pulse on demand to my DSD-2. A bunch of googling with "quotes" has gotten me nowhere, except some forums in which people are rigging Roland PD-8 pads to work with Rockband.. seems like the path I'm on, but the pads seem to output a wide range of voltages.

Now I don't do electronics or soldering, but I have access to any supplies I may need, and virtually ANY Roland part. I'd do a piezo in a practice pad or something like a nice tact-switch from a drum machine (I don't need velocity), running a TS 1/4" out to the DSD. Alternative would be some kind of durable tap-tempo style footswitch (from a FS-5 of some kind). The specs on the DSD-2 manual don't specify the acceptable voltages for the "trigger in", but the jack of the same name on the DR-220 says 5-15v..

Would it be easier to fit this into an existing housing and switch (like an FS-5x or some Quicklok cheapie variant, even defunct amp footswitches) with some source of voltage for the pulse? Is this possible? Am I pipe-dreaming?

Thanks for any light you can shed on my plan..

There are many ways I can think of to solve this, but they all involve soldering...

I would make up a little box with a +9VDC battery snap (or power supply jack) and a momentary footswitch if it was me.
