Unfortunately this happens from time to time. By default, each profile has "Allow Forum Members to Send you E-Mail" set to true so all someone needs to do is to register on the forum and then they're able to e-mail every other member.
It's possible to change the settings so other forum members can't send you e-mail but then no one can send you e-mail through the forum.
Whenever we discover one of these spammers, we swiftly move in and disable their accounts but they are sometimes able to do some damage before we get to them. Dr.Bob disabled Naki08 yesterday only hours after he'd registered but he still managed to get some e-mail off before he was nuked.

Spammer is now locked.
Apologies he seems to have slipped through.
He listed himself as being from Belgium.
We were watching him, but we were unsure about his real intentions.
PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THEM-HIM
They do not see your address unless you mistakenly reply,
or reply in anger.
Admin have also been notified.
Can I ask you to please edit your mail.
Else he has effectively spammed us as well.
Perhaps just leave his name & the gist of the message.
Else I can do it for you.
I'll leave it up for a while to see who else received this email.
I work really hard & long to keep these buggers off the forum
and from spamming members.
Occasionally one will slip through.

I got this e-mail today from that idiot.  Not to worry though, I know this type of thing happens on forums and all. Nothing anyone can do to prevent it 100%. The e-mail I got today is the exact same one that escaisey posted on here. |

...Yep i saw a documentary once....strange is a word that springs to mind.... not a very well known band this side of the pond....
I know it's a bummer for ad-min(well done for keeping this a well run place guys.. ) and some people get annoyed but i think these letters are rather funny...c'mon who sends you an email in broken english,offering control of an $8 million estate in a war torn country....?some of these letters arrive in my mail box from time to time along with other crap and i just delete them unread...no biggie....... |
