I just put in my old MXR dynacomp in the pedalboard, but it is that old so its without led and it colours my sound pretty much. I also noticed that it sucked my tone a bit, but I dont know if it only was in my mind or if it really was so. Anyway, I also have a Limiter that I can replace the dynacomp with. Is it a good thing to use as a compressor? I cant say that the dynacomp coloured my sound in a bad way, but for me I want to just have more sustain and a little tubeamp compressed sound that dont colour the guitarcharacter so much. Is the Limiter a good choice then or should I go for a CS-2 or 3 instead? I tested it at home alone with only guitar and my Fender Pro JR and find it pretty good, but im not sure. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum
I haven't tried using the lm2 as a compressor, fantastic pedal
Boss says you can set it to compressor...
"Fig. 2 (Level 5, Tone 5, Release 4, Threshold 4) shows the setting for an unmistakably "compressed" sound. Threshold set at a lower setting and a shorter Release emphasizes attack."
Try putting the limiter at the start of your chain, and try a few pedal combos. Hard to test a pedal like that, or how it works with others.

Isn't the cs2 a modified version of the mxr dynacomp but with a Attack knob? Don't quote me tho

Hi Shoegazers Anon

And welcome to the Forum from Australia.

Yes the LM-2 makes a nice, but subtle compressor.
And very much under appreciated.

You can download the user manual from the Boss web site.
http://www.rolandus.com/support/product_manuals/LM-2_OM.pdf
The main index is:
http://www.rolandus.com/mojo/manuals.aspx

If you change the model of the pedal you can down load most of the manuals from here
eg. if you wanted the HM-2,
just substitute the LM-2 in the above URL with HM-2 or what ever.
Note: Most, but not all the operator manuals are there.

Regards Dr. Bob

Welcome to the forum.

CS-2 is going to be much more comparable to the MXR dynacomp. LM-2 is a great pedal if you are just looking for subtle compression. I use one all the time when going for a nice clean sound with very little coloration. The CS-2 and dynacomp are much less subtle and get into heavy compression and sustain with more coloration of your sound.

Welcome, another Swede is always nice!
I think LM-2 is a great pedal used as compressor.
Of all the CS-pedals I like CS-2 most, CS-3 is OK too.
CS-1 is nice to look at, but in my ears it dont sound very good, it pumps too much.

Hi Goran!
Yes, its nice isnt it! I also tryed the CS-1, but also find that it was clipping too much and lower the volume and raise it again too slow. Ill try my LM-2 instead at todays repetation.

Today I tryed it and it really kicks ass as a compressor, at least for what I need and want a compressor to do. Little coloration and not too much effect. Just a increased sustain. And its MIJ wich always feels nice...
