Hi guys,

I was getting ready to mod my Old black label MIJ Ibanez TS-9 (not reissue) and then it occured to me that it might be worth something?

Thoughts?

I'm just gonna do the 3-step mod to take it to TS-808 specs, but I can live without doing them if anyone can think of a reason to keep it stock.

Thanks

These are getting more and more worth every year so I would say keep it stock as it's usually more worth that way. I think they're worth $80-$100 right now but seeing that the 808s are going for $300+ I expect the TS-9 prices to follow suit in not too long.

There are a few of ways of looking at it:
--If you don't ever plan on selling it, then doing the mods would make the pedal worth more to you if it makes the sound you want.
--If you do plan on selling it don't do the mods.
--Another thought is, maybe after modding your TS-7, it won't be as much of a piece of crap, and if the modded TS-7 sounds spectacular, go on every musicians forum and praise it. Then people would just get TS-7s and maybe the TS-9 market will chill out, then perhaps you could get some cheap TS-9s and mod them to your liking.
--Or another train of thought is, mod the TS-7 to make sure the mod creates the sound you are looking for before you go mod your TS-9.

I'm just saying don't worry so much about market worth if you don't ever plan on selling it. Its kind of like putting non-stock hot rod parts on a classic car. Yeah, the market might not think its worth much, but if you enjoy the car as much as life itself, then market value should not impede on personal enjoyment.

Here's an idea... Send me your vintage TS9 and I'll send to you, in return, a newer TS9 modded to TS808 specs. Deal?
