| I like the old Boss pedals that I was able to buy, but the rubber is all dried out. Does anybody know a way to fix this? Is there a way other than using Armor-All (which makes the rubber slippery defeating the prupose off the rubber) to keep the rubber from drying up? |

For the rubber roller-wheel (is this the correct name???)on tape recorders parrafin oil is used to make them not drying up. Even the rubber "thing" on phono cartridges (the rubber holding the pin with the needle) I have heard thet people use parrafin oil. I havent tried for myself so I dont bark on me if it doesnt work... Someone who has p. oil could try on rubber not as useful as a Boss pedal, like a TS808... |

I resent that.
The rubber on my two MIJ pedals is so bad I don't think that treating them with parafin oil could make them any worse. |

Paraffin oil can be found in drugstores or chemical shops. Used for skin conditioning. |

I think he was kidding. But in case anybody else is unsure, there is rubber on the top of the pedal where your foot goes and on the bottom of the pedal on the non-skid surace.
I'm just going to replace the thumbscrew buffers, they suck. Probably the only thing that I dislike about the Boss design. |

I found one website that says that paraffin oil is the same as mineral oil.
The Indian FDA says that Johnson's Baby Oil is almost pure "Light Liquid Paraffin" (99.785%). Also contains Vitamin D. You know all little baby Boss pedals need their Vitamin D. |

Update, I think that the Indian FDA article that I found was mistaken; I think they confused Vitamin D with Vitamin E, as the mineral oil that I bought contains Vitamin E and adding Vitamin E to an oil makes more sense than Vitamin D. Other than the Vitamin E the bottle says that it is pure.
I've lubed up my rubber, now what do I do with it? |

| I've applied the mineral oil to almost all of my pedals. The newer pedals came out nicely conditioned after letting the oil soak in for a few hours, wiping it off and letting them dry. I keep applying it to my MIJ Boss pedals every day but so far the rubber hasn't softened up. They aren't cracked up, they are just really hard and slick, more like plastic than rubber. |

Are you really sure mineral oil is the same as paraffin oil???? As I stated above I havent done this myself and have never heard of it being used on pedals (with rubber...). Keep us informed how the experiments are going. |
