| I'd like to buy one as soon as possible, it's a bit expensive, except if you compare it to the real 70's space-echo, and it seems to be easier to use than the original one and the sound seems to be almost the same, i think it's a good investment |

I have one that I may be selling to fund a Fulltone TTE.
Maybe I didn't give it an honest chance in my new setup but it didn't float my boat. Its brand new, played like 3 or 4 times through it.. should only have microscratches as created by the sweeping motion from a camel's hair brush.. probably want $200 for it. |

Dependable on what music you play, of course, this pedal can be great. the reverb can be a little mushy and to much echo can smear things out. got to keep the controls down if you gonna use it in a tradional way. if you want to freak out its perfect, gots lot of effect. very cool dub/reagge feeling to it. the tap function is great to have too. never tried it with an expression pedal but im sure it will broaden its use excellent. |

It's good fun, and eminently usable. I've no doubt that despite the SOS review saying it nails the sound totally, it probably gets most but not all of the way there - I don't have a genuine RE-201 to compare it with - but I do know that I'm very happy with it and it sounds as good as I might want or expect, without buying a real tape unit. You might have to fiddle with the tone controls to get it right, and the (emulated spring) reverb has a limited frequency response, but that's part of it - and the tap is useful, even if it doesn't function quite how I feel it should. Holding the treadle insigates 'spin' mode which speeds it up constantly and goes into mad feedback - great fun - but while you're in that mode, any new notes played don't echo.
The only thing I think they missed off was a way to step through the tape-head modes via a pedal/footswitch. That would have saved a lot of bending down. And the lights on these twin pedals get on my nerves a bit; I don't want swirly patterns, I want sound. Apart from that, I reckon it's a corker and worth trying out. I don't think the price is too much either, not compared to things like the RC-2 and DD-7. |

I had one for a couple of month and liked it very much at first, but after a while the glory fainted a bit. I cant point at anything special, but to me it just dont sounded right, but thats my opinion. I sold it, and have never regretted that. I like DD-20 a lot by the way.

I have two RE-20s. Obviously I liked it so much when I bought it that I got another one just to use around the house(the first one was in my pedalboard).
They're excellent effects units. I'd rather have one of these over the RE-201 simply because I'm lazy and don't wanna fool with tape. I could set a good short slapback on mode 1, then flip to mode 2 and have a nice spacious echo for ballads and so forth.
As good as they are, I decided to go back to my DM-2 because I wanted to revert back to a smaller simpler setup(my BCB-3). But I'm one of those people who will positively recommend the RE-20 to anyone looking for a good delay/echo setup...COSM or otherwise.

as you've probably seen my rant on COSM in another thread...the RE-20 is the only COSM product i've not returned within the first 48hrs...the only major difference between the real deal and the twin pedal is the nasty phase/scooped sound your tone is saturated w/ when the RE-20 is engaged(at least to my ears)...side by side they're really freakin close...Roland almost nailed it on this one...not quite...but enough to justify not fiddling w/ tape anymore so yes i'll kindly stick my foot in my mouth and admit I think the Space Echo is a superbadass pedal! |

It's an example where COSM is really useful, and it makes the RE-20 much more easy to use than the original, i understand and agree with you Brutalitarian |

Well i heard a demo and it sounded awesome! :) Now with great reviews from the bossarea gang it's now in the cards for me to get my hands on one. It'll have to wait a while since i just bought the white marshall 1960a cab $879.99 usd. It's the one that goes with the Marshall 1959RR Head (no randy rhoads head though since it's 3K)
