Does anyone know what is inside of this pedal?
What I need: - Type and value of potentiometer(s) - Schematic drawing
I have an other type expression pedal and I want to modify it to be able to drive my compact pedals like AW-3, PH-3, FT-2.
Thanks in advance! |

There use to be a really good link, buts its down now heres the text, but no schem, I've pm you about it...
The pedal is connected to a cable with a 1/4" (6.35mm) stereo phone plug on the other end. The metal plate at the bottom of the pedal is grounded and connected to the shield of the cable.
VR1 is a 10kohm linear-curve (curve B) variable resistor, connected to the Main Volume Pedal. It determines the RING-TIP resistance and the value changes from 0 ohm to 10kohm as the pedal depressed from the lowest to the highest volume positions.
VR2 is a 50kohm linear-curve (curve B) variable resistor, connected to the Minimum Volume Knob. It determines the minimum value of the pedal when it is at the lowest volume position. The value changes from 0 ohm to 50kohm as the knob is turned from the position "0" to "10".
good luck

Hello ChristoMephisto,
Based on your explanation it can be the schematic drawing what I could imagine:
Download Attachment: EH-5_schematic_drawing.JPG 7.86KB
I will do a trial afterwards inform you about the result. I guess the 50kOhm resistor can be eliminated if I would use this pedal only driving boss compact pedals - refer to the product descriptions.
If anybody has this pedal would she/he please confirm these values by internal measurements - perhaps with photos?
Anyway thanks for the info, I will reply in case of any result |

The 50k pot's slider isn't wired to ground, its to the first lug in series with the other pot. You say you have an older expression pedal, it could be easily tweeked to what you need. I have a EV-10 and its pretty much the same, minus a built in cord and longer profile. I could send pics if you want |

Hi Christo Nice pic, first time I've seen one, the 16mm? pots look cheap.
Just to go off topic a bit Have you ever seen, heard of, or come across, the "SUPPOSED sweep mod" for the Boss PW-1 Rocker Wah. Or maybe a Schematic? The range is limited - even with the sweep pot on max.(common complaint).
I wonder if it has anything to do with increasing the Magnetic Flux Density, onto the Hall Effect sensor IC? (Just speculating) Have you tried putting a magnet near the IC on you PD-1 Rocker distortion?
PM me, or we could start a new thread "Rocker Pedal Mods"

ChristoMephisto,
Thank you for your photo -> very nice and useful.
Would you please confirm the value of the serial resistor to the 10kOhm pot slider, is it 1kOhm (as I could see)?
I made a correction on my schematic drawing based on your picture:
Download Attachment: EH-5_schematic_drawing_mod_1.JPG 8.72 KB
The 50kOhm pot is not needed to driving compact pedals, only the 10k, I will do my trial with it -> inform later about the result.
Thanks for all!

Yeaaaahhh...
Very cool..... Guys, I made it and the result is incredible
I'm recommend this easy preparation to all of you guys who has these pedals with this 'exp' jack connection.
I enjoyed it mostly with AW-3 -> this setup is a very cool and most useful instead of a crybaby - really good
thanks again christo |
