bumped... because my local bigbox music store (rhymes with "sitar winter") has all of the Digitech Hardwire pedals, and I got to test the RV-7 in reverse reverb mode with my own two ears. I had to listen thru headphones instead of a proper speaker cab, but it sounds as wonderful as the Lexicon name implies (and as Tony and other reviewers have suggested). very soothing yet jagged washes of sound; I can only imagine having a Marshall Guv'nor to drive it.
although there is no "blend" option, that's probably a good thing with the longer reverse reverb settings. to play along with a clean guitar (and have the chord changes occur at roughly the same time; see "sometimes", track 8 on MBV's "Loveless" CD), you'd need to delay the dry parts by the same amount. I can envision a system with a DD-7 and a LS-2 with the RV-7, but I have no idea how you'd sing on top of it live, especially if there's no second guitarist.
at any rate, I've gotta get one of these things... if the other settings are any good, this will be a very fun pedal even when I'm not pretending I'm Kevin Shields. it's too bad it's not a Boss.... |
