It's a beautiful sunny Saturday outside right now so I thought, what the heck, I'd put up a Off Topic thread.

As I've mentioned sometime before, recently I was going through some of my old guitar stuff in a box I have up in my closet. While I was going through that box of pedals and my Fender Strat soft case, I came across a few packs of brand new batteries that I had purchased in believe sometime in 87'. I intended to use them in the pedals, but never did. I thought it was interesting when I took the packages out of the box and looked at the "Best if used before" date. Now that would make a great battery commercial if I could open one of them up and put it in something and it still had the volts after all these years. That would be funny. Also the price for each one was $1.60 (price tag on back side). I've been in drug stores lately which sell these at a less price then some places and a 9v battery now will cost you about $4.99 in San Francisco. Have a great weekend everybody.......

That's cool, good thing is they're sealed packaged so they don't leak.
I would be funny if they still worked 18 years after their expiration date

Check 'em with a voltmeter and see what they read.

Some of the popular commercial modders (like analogman) actually recommend cheapo carbon 9V batts over alkaline.

I find the cheapos in dollar Tree or other dollar stores, used to be two for a buck and now a buck apiece.

It's handy to have a voltmeter around, or at least a Radio Scrap battery meter.

Oh yeah, we see this type of auctions on ebay all the time. Seriously I wouldn't want to pay money to place ads on ebay knowing that no one would buy into that idea that they were "vintage". Ebay would love it though cause they don't care if it doesn't sell, by the time an item has been put on auction there, they've made their money.
