That must be why the shipping is so expensive...

What the hell are the 2 black strips in between the pedal and the registration cards on one of the larger pictures?

Weights perhaps? Maybe thats why shipping is so expensive

As a seller, I would be happy to sell a $50.00 pedal for $1.00 with $49.00 shipping fee, rather than a $45.00 pedal with a $5.00 shipping fee.

Because eBay final value (discreet dollars) increases as the closing value increase, as a seller, you are better off with lowest item price as possible.

AS A BUYER, you always have to consider what your total price is, including shipping. At the end of the day, if you think the pedal is worth $50.00, subtract the posted shipping charge from the maximum amount you'd bid, and WHO CARES if there are exorbitant shipping charges?

The only time "exorbitant" shipping charges are annoying to me, is when, someone lists and says SHipping to Canada $100.00 - what they really mean is that they do NOT want to ship to Canada.

that's my 2 cents. Somehow, I think we discussed a lot about eBay shipping before ...

happy ebaying everyone!

Please tell that to all the sellers of VB-2s, SP-1s, SG-1s, and CE-1s (and all of the Mutron sellers too)...

I say set a reserve price if you have expenses to cover, and quote actual shipping charges. But you're right, if it sells at a low enough price, it's all the same money-wise and it really doesn't matter -- just a matter of principle on my part. We can agree to disagree.

Plus I don't think that this seller is taking the approach as you've stated -- I think they'd be perfectly okay with getting $100 for it and still charging the flat $30 for shipping and insurance.

/wouldn't buy from that seller anyway
//didn't like what I saw in the feedback

That's the rubber strips that comes with the NS-2. In a BCB-6 they go under the NS-2 and lifts it up a little so the jack sockets stay clear of case. Not much use with an EH-2 though.

That makes sense. I got my NS-2 off eBay with no box or other materials, so I didn't know it came with those strips.

after all of the box auctions, you will see manual auctions, followed finally by "rare MIJ rubber NS2 feet elevation device" auctions.

you call me crazy. you will see

In fact stahlart I agree totally with what you say above. That's how I do my auctions, I set the shipping price +/- $.50 quotes from website and maybe I endup overcharging 50c or under charging $1, and usually if $3-$5 diff I refund. I set opening bid, USUALLY to cover waht I want for the pedal, paypal fees, etc etc, all in my starting price. If you USE BIN, I simply figure an average of current closed deals and add orsubtract based on quality M NM VG G R etc etc.

My brain works "$50 for this pedal" $100 for that one" and then I add and $8.00 shipping fee and come up with my total price. A high shipping charge, psychologically feels like I'm getting ripped off, but really, one needs to just factor in shipping wheter it is FREE with a "high" BIN price or simply HIGH for no reason. We all discount our total price for shipping at the end of the day. Well, MOST of us do ...

ONce I was chasing a DD-2, and the seller had a $25.00 shipping fee within US (could actually be as low as $5.00) and said in his listing "if you don't like the shipping charge, don't ask me to change it or don't bid", and funny thing, I would think he would have gotten market price LESS say $10-$15 but it made no difference, the pedal was still bid pretty close to $140 or so.

At the end of the day, it comes down to perception and how much money is left in your paypal account anyways!!!!!!!

YOU CAN SEE the HIGH SHIPPING/LOW item price strategy working very well if you search for Computer parts like RAM DIMM modules, AGP video cards etc. or FLASH memory cards for digital cameras.
