Does anyone know of some simple CS-1 mods or a website with any? Mine is kinda bright sounding, and the attack is way too quick for my tastes.

just thinking the same thing, you cud just get a CS-3 and do an opto mod and turn the attack and tone down.

That was the magic to the CS1, very plucky sounding
Sold mine a while back, but remember one setting was better than the others.
IMHO get a CS2 or a LM2, no mods required

I thought 'why?' for a minute or twelve as well. But today I sat at home and just tweaked pedals. That has been my 'to do' for a while, so when I actually spent six hours so far, and plan on another four, you run out of pedals and start looking at the sacred cows. I know I need an outside life.
I ended up just tweaking it a little, and it seems OK. Not night-and-day different, but more to how I wanted it. I changed three capacitors, and one resistor. Before you had to dime the level control to get unity gain, and now I can actually get a clean boost out of it with the sustain control completely off. No biggie. But that attack still has to come down, Or maybe not. I'll leave well enough alone and enjoy it. I have more bass, more output, and I can use it without cringing. If you watch this video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyQ_K6LWFAs, it sounds great, but he has the level control up full, and it is pretty bright. The treble switch loosens my fillings. I really think now mine has the same general idea to the compression, but the bass is fuller, and I can have the level at say 3:00 for unity gain.
I was hoping someone had an idea on the attack 'issue', but I think I have had my butt kicked enough for one day. I won't mention I also 'tweaked' a MIJ CE-2 today.
