Well i just wanted to introduce myself. Last night i was working - not much to do and ended up finding this place. Well there's some great info on the Boss range here - also enjoyed the user pictures - some people have some huge collections. Anyway it made me realise i have inadvertently created a bit of a collection myself:

2x TW-1 T-Wah
DC-2 Dimension C
CS-2 Compression Sustainer
DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion
MZ-2 Digital Metalizer
MT-2 Metal Zone
HM-2 Heavy Metal
OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion
AW-2 Auto Wah
AC-2 Acoustic Simulator
ODB-3 Bass Overdrive
LM-2B Bass Limiter
NF-1 Noise Gate

SE-70 Super Effects Processor
CL-50 Compressor
DI-1 Direct Box
BCB-3 Carry Case

As you can see i favour distortion boxes. Latest acquisition was the Digital Metalizer - quite an odd doubling sound, i think i like it. i like the slightly less common pedals that Boss have produced, so was maybe looking at getting the Power Driver and Hyper Metal next. What do you think? i really should have a DS-1 i know and i have only one guitar overdrive pedal (and even that has distortion) and no fuzz pedals - i seem to prefer full on hard distortion.

i'd also love a Slow Gear but can't afford it

Cheers,
Mr Arkadin.

i've got the Feedbacker & Distortion actually - that's the later one isn't it? Oh i also had a BF-2 Flanger but sold that to a mate - i never use flange on guitar - sometimes use phase though (have a phase100 for that - oops, am i allowed to mention that here ).

BTW, is there any way to get the bit of rubber that the screw on the front goes through - you know the 'O' thing - some of mine have been decimated over the years and i don't like the metal on metal feel.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. What is it about Boss pedals that makes us become collectors (sometimes without realising it)?

OD-1, eh? i always seem to equate the word 'overdrive' with 'just breaking up' as opposed to 'full on distortion' - would you describe the Boss ODs that way or can they scream?

i was lucky with the T-Wahs - i was really into Bassomatic and they did a version of one of their tracks and it was called the T-Wah Mix. i tend to use them to funk up keyboards (i got two with the idea of using them in stereo with different settings - never really tried it - you have to be careful of the phase issues i think). Anyway i got them when they were not particularly sought after - £40 each i think (this was the early '90s).

Same for the Dimension C - i always wanted a Roland Dimension D (one day...) so i settled for that instead - not in as good condition as my other pedals but works fine. Again used more for keyboards. i love kit that just has four buttons - no parameters.

i'm starting a bit of a bass collection too (just two pedals so far). The ODB-3 is very nice - i like the way you can blend the DI back into the overdrive sound. Might try this pedal with guitar.

i also have a Roland RE-501 but am looking to get an RE-20 pedal for convenience (i do not hump that 501 to gigs).

Well i don't have any of the Boss chorus pedals - but Roland chorus is always good, although i think the 301 might be slightly nicer. Of course a CE-1 would be nice . There are no parameters on the 501 except level so what you get is fixed, but Roland seem to get analogue chorus right. In fact i also have a Roland DC-50 Digital Chorus which i think is quite rare and is sort of the poor man's Dimension D. It looks a bit like an RE-201. Oddly enough i don't like chorus on guitar - reminds me of the '80s, prefer it on keyboards, which brings me to...

i think not. However i do electronic based music - my keyboard skills are *ahem* modest, but i've been getting back into the guitar recently and am concentrating on that for a bit. However Boss pedals are great on keyboards.
