Yup, popped into Cash Connection pawn on Glenmore trail.
No offense to you personally PST, but your handle is the frigging best. I love crawling thru pawnshops, anytime a I go visit a place, I find the 'Used music stores" and old pawnshops.... anywho...
THERE's a BEEYOUUUUUTIFUL MIT DS-1 with about a 2cm by 2cm square scrape to the bare metal rubbing the Name out so it is a Dis ion s-1
WITH LOVELY DM-3 knobs, and a MIJ bottom plate. So theres that nice 1cm by 1.5mm gap between the case and where the old style power plug.
$37.95 plus GST folks.
I asked their bottom as I wanted it for parts and they said they couldn't go less than $30.00.
I passed .
Now if any of you hot collectors want me to grab this, email me $50 bucks and I'll go get it and pop it in the mail 2 U.
Huh? no takers? |

I never see any pedals in the pawn shops anymore. I think they've all figured out how to ebay.
Grace and peace,
Steve

maybe that explains why I'm always empty handed.
there'a great pawnshop / music store on 17th Ave and he had 3 MIJ CE-2s and he wanted 135 each so, yeah, he's figured out eBay.
The odd shops sometimes find its too much a hassle to keep up with the email, one guy told me they tried eBaying all their music stuff but found they had to pay someone full time just to deal with email, and too many finnicky buyers when trying to sell 'used' stuff so, maybe we'll someday be lucky and find some good pedals in pawnshops again someday. Best places are the ones that don't really specialize in music, I find anyways... |

I found a DC-2 at Camden Market in London, asked the guy 'what the funny BOSS pedal' was, he said he didn't know but I could have it for 30....

ha, ha! that's quite a "mutt" of a pedal you found (the 'Ion' pedal!). I'm the same way about used gear/junk/pawn shops, because that's all I can afford! and where else besides a pawn shop can you trade a crossbow and a $100 bill for an electric bass? (true story!)
it does seem like pedals are becoming much more rare in pawn shops these days, but there's usually something worth checking out (even if it's just to laugh at it). for example, the ubiquitous classical guitar restrung with steel strings for a good 3/4" of action, unplayable and falling apart from the stress, priced at $99.95; or the Fender amp that looks like it was chained to the bumper of a dump truck and dragged down 50 miles of highway; or the breathtaking late '50s Fender Musicmaster that might not be very desirable, but is still really cool and unexpected to find in a random pawn shop. there's a large pawnshop near me that had an especially large selection of cheesy crap, such as a cheapie electric guitar signed by every member of Extreme (the band; remember "more than words"?) and a digital multitrack recorder that had been spray-painted red(!?!). alas, I don't visit that store often enough....
anyway, I guess I'm holding out hope that one day I'll find a DC-2 for under $100 US at a pawn shop, or even a SP-1. (that's the only way I'll be able to afford a SP-1....)

Then you'll have to decide whether to sell that SP-1 for $300 on ebay and buy something you'll actually use.
Ooo, I can hear the outrage from here.... |
