I am interested in hearing what people think of the sound of the BF-2 vs. the normal mode on the BF-3. I currently own a BF-3 and am happy with it, but since I also own a few MIJ pedals, including a CE-2 and PH-1r, I am drawn by the allure of an MIJ BF-2 (or heck even a MIT). Thus, I cannot justify spending a measly $40-50 without at least making this thread
To my defense, I searched and scoured these boards for a topic like this but it was to no avail. If there already is one, point me there.
Opinions please! |

I have both, but I love my BF-2 more, very organic. I use it before or after distortion to get some very nice results.
Mine is MIJ green label that I bought in 89. Over the years, I had to replace some of the electrolytic capacitors with metal film ones of the same value and recalibrate the internal pots.
Now it's jet-flying like it was in 89. |

| This seems to be common perception, that the BF-3 is a bit colder/more sterile. The BF-3 is digital, and BF-2 analogue, same as PH-2/3, although I thought the PH-2 was also pretty cold and lifeless (i'm a Smallstone man at heart)... |

I had a BF-3 and really wanted to like it, but I couldn't dial in my two favorite sounds from my MIT BF-2. although the BF-3 is more versatile, I eventually traded it, and later bought a SS MIJ BF-2 (even more warm-sounding than my MIT BF-2).
I rarely use flanging anymore, but if you do, I highly recommend seeking out a MIJ BF-2 (look for the all-black knobs with red lines, instead of the grey knob inserts). they are still relatively cheap. |

| The MIJ BF-2 is definetily the best. It is warm, analogue and just sounds great. I think that the new modes on the BF-3 are pretty useless... I've never tried a MIT BF-2 but the Japan version must be the best regarding tons of reviews and opinions. |

Anyone have any thoughts on the BF-1? I know it's not really a Boss compact with its clunky old Roland enclosure, but I've heard a lot of good things about it when it's run on 12V...
I currently have one which isn't working that I will *eventually* get around to fixing. Anyone compared the BF-1 with the other BFs?
